![]() Helping skaters get to skate, do what you want with skating. We’re both so grateful we have these skills to even be able to do this and give to others this way. To be honest, Kyle & I did mull over the fact it’d be nice to be able to make money off our project and discussed the idea of selling our miniramp plans since it was our own, cost us $$$, time, energy (and a little blood) to put it together by hand, film, edit, produce the tutorial, write all this out, go through all the questions and answer them…but we just realized nah, we actually want to help people and serve our community. We answered all your questions about building our DIY mini ramp in this video! Be sure to give it a watch for any additional questions you may have, we probably covered it in that video! We also answered questions you gave us on our most recent video on “ How we built a DIY miniramp CHEAP“. The skating surface is masonite, with a wood frame + deck, and we build it on our porch so it’s covered and the base of the ramp is our porch floor. ![]() The miniramp dimensions are 2′ tall x 8 feet wide x 14’ 3” long. We did create these plans ourselves from scratch and work out the kinks for you along the way, our is still awesome and we skate it all the time. We made a straightforward video tutorial “How to make a mini ramp! ” showing you all the the steps outlined here in our plan… and we decided to share them with you for free. Once the city closed the public skatepark, we knew we’d still want to skate ramps, so we decided to take on our dream project: build a a mini ramp on our porch! We’re very grateful we were able to do it (silver lining to being stuck at home). Kyle & I built our own DIY miniramp together during COVID-19 quarantine this summer.

Norco’s full-suspension mountain bikes are ridden by some of the best off-road racers in the world, frequently helping them to get podium finishes. Similarly, Norco always adds an S, A or C to indicate steel, aluminum or carbon frames. The flagship model is always indicated with a ‘1’. Norco has a pretty good system to organize the bikes and divide the range.įor example, their entry-level models start with high numbers and high-end models have low numbers. Canada’s wilderness is vast and diverse, so it provides the perfect playground for professional riders to fine-tune Norco’s new creations before they hit the shelves. These suspension linkage technologies aim to provide the best handling, climbing, and descending experience on different types of bikes, such as XC, trail, enduro, or DH.Īll Norco bikes are rigorously tested in the Canadian outback during the development process. For example, a trail and an enduro bike are very different, and riders have different things in mind when they get on and start plowing the trails.įor that reason, Norco developed the Horst Hanging Link, Horst Rocker Link, and the High Single Pivot (HSP). However, this is not the best way to do it. The easiest way to develop a bike frame is to design the geometry in a single frame size and then simply scale it to fit the reach of all other sizes. Here are a few of Norco’s most important design approach highlights. This includes a careful selection of materials, a stringent engineering process that aims to provide the best fit for all riders, as well as the development of advanced technologies to improvise the ride quality and feel. Norco takes a unique design approach when it comes to developing and manufacturing their bikes. Today Norco has close to 150 models sold in all parts of the world. They began selling bicycles worldwide in 1995 and the rest is history. In 1984, Norco also became one of the first manufacturers of mountain bikes on the North American market, including North America’s first front suspension-specific MTB-the Norco Rampage. In 1973, they built their first full-suspension BMX bicycle, in 1975 their first 10-speed drop bar road bike. Interestingly, Norco was one of the original manufacturers of 10-speed bikes and helped popularize BMX bicycles. By the end of the year, DJI had locked employees of the North American subsidiary out of their email accounts in the process shutting down the subsidiary's operations. Midway through the year, Wang made an offer to buy out Guinn, which was refused. The Phantom was commercially successful but led to conflict between Guinn and Wang. In 2013, DJI released the first model of the Phantom drone, an entry-level drone which was more user-friendly than other drones on the market at the time. In 2011, Wang met Colin Guinn at a trade show, and the two of them founded DJI North America, a subsidiary company focusing on mass market drone sales. DJI began to cater more to drone hobbyists in markets outside of China. In 2010, Wang hired a high school friend, Swift Xie Jia, to run the company's marketing. In 2009, DJI's components enabled a team to successfully pilot a drone around the peak of Mt. The company sold a modest number of components during this period, relying on financial support from Wang's family friend, Lu Di, who provided US$90,000 and managed the company's finances. The company struggled at first with a high degree of churn among employees attributed to Wang's abrasive personality and perfectionist expectations. He used the proceeds to move to the industrial hub of Shenzhen and hired a small staff in 2006. Wang built the first prototypes of DJI's projects in his dorm room, selling the flight control components to universities and Chinese electric companies. Nobody but Netflix executives know the viewing figures, so nobody can see the lies. What this is, is a failure to manufacture demand.” One of the biggest tools they have is exploiting social pressure by creating the illusion that everyone is watching x “The Cowboy Bebop thing is pretty funny,” one person noted, “but it really exposes how much Netflix just doesn’t make any fucking sense … a few weeks ago they were tweeting about how it basically was setting the data centers ablaze, now it’s cancelled.” Another, the “Marquis de Posade,” elaborated, “The contemporary economy is about manufacturing demand, and Netflix literally owns their own platform to do so. Last Christmas, shortly before Netflix began to fall apart, they cancelled their live-action remake of the Japanese anime Cowboy Bebop. At the top of the market and in the biggest shows there’s not much very good, and not much very bad, which is a shame, because really bad art can be captivating, thrilling, fun to look at, can lead to great breakthroughs, but sweet tasteful kitsch leads nowhere fast. Most of these new painting superstars are very, extremely, ultra “mid.” I mentioned one of the market star painters of Venice to my neighbor at a dinner and he just kept saying “gar-bage, gar-bage … gar-bage,” pronouncing the second syllable so that it rhymed with “Raj.” I probably started talking about how her paintings were just very mid. What’s so hot right now is inoffensive, middle of the road, pleasant on the eye, mediocre. What’s in right now is kitsch and schlock and camp and, yes, a little soft porn. This summer the trend is for paintings made by and, or, featuring, attractive young women, which makes sense, because Instagram is, at heart, about images of attractive young women as has been much of the history of art. All art has become a sort of post-internet art, experienced through screens. Many of them are working off Instagram, and the PDFs and previews that every gallery sends out, and art is now being viewed, curated, collected, and traded through online images, much more so than in person, and this process has only accelerated over the past couple years indoors. The market, Farago observes, is controlled by speculators and value is accrued through speculation rather than museum shows, catalogues, and critical support as before. This represents the triumph of what I and others have previously described as “zombie figuration,” now joined by a second wave of zombie formalism, and brought together under the meaningless temporal “ultra-contemporary.” In the timeless dissociative fugue of the present, biennials of contemporary art fill with dead artists while auction houses hammer through zombie remakes of artists still very much alive and well.Įvery asset but bad painting is collapsing! You have to buy what you can and when it’s worth too much more have to sell it again. Christina Quarles’s curiously sexless orgy scene Night Fell Upon Us (2019) also went for $4,527,000 at Sotheby’s. Writing about last month’s auctions in the New York Times, Jason Farago addressed how the market has accelerated into speculative overdrive: with Ewa Juszkiewicz’s copy of a 19th-century French genre painting, Portrait of a Lady (After Louis-Léopold Boilly), going for $1.56 million, Flora Yukhnovich’s lifeless gestural remake of François Boucher’s Triumph of Venus (1740) going for $630,000, a pair of Anna Weyant’s Chinese Cynical Realist John Currin–like portraits going for well over a million each, and one of Lauren Quin’s cool Kerstin Brätsch–esque abstractions making $529,000. ![]() “Ultra-contemporary” because it doesn’t do anything new, but only refines already-present historical and contemporary art into exceedingly sellable and tasteful styles. And today it’s so hard to tell the difference, and the boundaries between good and bad have disappeared. Some years ago, I went out with some friends to Trisha’s, a basement bar in Soho in London, and after a few drinks a stylist, quite austere, softly spoken, leant over to me and asked quietly, “Do all the bad designers, know that they’re bad?” That’s a question I’ve often wondered myself. ![]() ![]() The queens who did the best in the challenge were uniformly the ones who didn’t do anything all that different with their make-up, but who also didn’t forget to sell the make-up. Some of them were more focused on comedy than sales, while others were obsessed with creating a personal story. That yielded a wide range of results from the queens. In America, Season 8’s Kim Chi recently expanded her make-up line into CVS stores around the country! Even for queens who aren’t going to start their own business, the ability to quickly assemble a pitch for a potential brand collab is an essential skill for all Drag Race graduates. This is more relevant than ever with make-up products from drag queens turning into big business around the world. Each queen chose a palette of six signature colors to craft a product, an accompanying face of make-up for a marketing photo, and a 20-second commercial to sell the product.
